This event is a community building campaign promoting a police and community partnership. It is a great opportunity to interact with Commander Hicks and his East side police team. Not only will the police be there, but also our local fire department IFD #29, the prosecutor’s office, and our local elected officials.

Playground Ribbon Cutting
We’re excited to announce that the new playgrounds near the Pagoda are ready to open. Thanks to a grant from Lilly Endowment, $5.5 million have been invested into Garfield Park to renovate the playground and shelter. Join us, alongside our friends at Indy Parks for a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, August 5 at 11 a.m.

Garfield Park Art and Music Festival
The Garfield Park Art & Music Festival is hosted by the Garfield Park Arts Center, Indy Parks, Friends of Garfield Park, and Citizen’s Energy at Garfield Park, the oldest city park in Indianapolis. The 9th annual Garfield Park Art & Music Festival (GPAMF) is an outdoor festival celebrating the art, music, and culture of Indianapolis. The festival will feature local musicians and bands of diverse genres performing their original music. Over 50 local artists working in a variety of mediums will also host artist booths with their fine art and handmade wares for sale as part of a curated art fair.
The mission of this festival is to showcase and celebrate local talent in the art and music scene in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable way, by highlighting and uplifting artists and musicians who are often underrepresented.

John the Garfield Park Neighborhood Association for a 2-3 mile walk to various art installations around the neighborhood with brief descriptions by the artist.

Dia De Muertos
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates deceased family members through music, storytelling, food, and ofrendas (altars).
Join us to learn more about this Mexican holiday and partake in the traditions by enjoying cultural music, dance performances, storytelling, creating Mexican-inspired crafts, and more!
Share a photo, drawing, or stories about your deceased loved ones by adding to our community memorial wall. View our community ofrenda and learn more about the elements that go into building an ofrenda. Guests are encouraged to dress up in traditional outfits and face paint, too.
